“Promises made must be promises kept”

As a 20 year veteran, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam, Congressman Boswell has fought for all veterans.  As one of only 66 veterans in the House of Representatives, Boswell has been a champion to ensure our veterans have adequate healthcare – both physical and mental.

Boswell championed and shepherded through Congress H.R. 327, the Joshua Omvig Veterans Suicide Prevention Act which was signed into law in November 2007.  He also authored and is working to pass H.R. 4204, the Veterans Suicide Prevention Study Act which would direct the Department of Veterans Affairs to study the number of veterans who have committed suicide over the past 10 years.

Last year, Boswell was proud to support the largest increase in funding in the Department of Veterans Affairs 77 year history.  This much needed increase will add 1,800 new claims processors to address the 400,000 benefit claims backlog.  He also supports legislation to improve care for women, rural, and disabled veterans, and increase funding for traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder.

Congressman Boswell believes that it is crucial to ensure our veterans always have access to healthcare, education, and other benefits that they were promised.
